Senior Session FAQ
The senior photography experience is much more than just creating pictures. It’s about capturing a lasting memory of who you are at this moment in time, preserving the moment through photographic art and cherishing you, your moment, and the art for lifetimes to come.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is truly getting to know you and finding a location that conveys your unique style. Senior portraiture is an art form and you as the subject allow me to pursue my passion for photography and creating YOUR custom art, while having fun!
My hope is that the images created during your session will be cherished by you and your family for years to come, and that your experience with us will remain in your heart forever.
Grab a cup of coffee, have a seat and relax. Thumb through the Senior Handbook, learn more about us and see what’s in store.
We are truly looking forward to working with you!
The Process
Orders will be ready 6-12 weeks after the ordering session. You will receive an email when they are ready for pick up. Please remember that The Studio does not have business hours. Lisa and I are both there by appointment only. The email will advise you to text and set up a time to meet for the pick up. If you have set up a payment plan, the order will be processed after the final payment has been made.
At The Studio, we will view your gallery together on the big screen. We will go through your favorites and make selections for your prints and products. Orders and payment are due at the ordering session, please be fully prepared.
The proofs from your session will be scheduled to go “LIVE” seven days before your ordering session. Take this time to go through them all, select your favorites, and share the link with familiy and friends that you want to include in the decision making process.
You will hear from us about a week before the session to confirm the location, exact meeting point and time to arrive. The day prior to your session, we will be taking a good look at the weather. We will let you know if we have any concerns. Especially if you have hair and make up booked.
Get extra sleep and drink plenty of water for a few days leading to your session.
Make sure those nails are photo ready. If your toes will be visible, paint those puppies too!
Take some pics of the outfits with the accessories and text them to Cindi. She will give any additional suggestions and possibly tell you which outfit to start the session in.
Now that we have a location and color scheme selected, it is time to SHOP! Go through your closet, your friend’s closets and then hit your favorite stores. Be sure to have appropriate shoes and accessories for each outfit.
After looking over your completed Questionnaire, Cindi will contact you to go over the details and determine what locations will work best for you. Suggestions for colors and styles will be given at this time as well. Have your calendar ready, we will select a date and time for your ordering session too.
If you are planning to have hair and make up done on the day of your session, please book that now. We do have a couple of artists to recommend, all you have to do is ask!
The Session Fee reserves your session date. You can make additional payments to that invoice if you’d like to start paying for your order in advance.
The completed Questionnaire will help us plan ahead for your session and get to know the senior better.
Select your date early! Jones Photography accepts a limited number of seniors per season, so dates are limited and fill quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Senior year is a very special time in your life. We want your photo session to be a fun, memorable
and stress-free experience. Here are some important things to keep in mind to help you get the most
out of your special day.
Your proof gallery will go LIVE seven days prior to your scheduled ordering session. When your images (digital proofs) have been posted for viewing, you will be notified via email. Use the seven days to share the gallery with anyone that you will want opinions from. Ordering session dates are chosen prior to the shoot and typically take place 2-4 weeks after the shoot. Payment is expected at the ordering session. Cash, check, credit card and payment plans are accepted. Orders should be ready within 6-12 weeks of the ordering session. Orders placed on a payment plan will be processed once the final payment is made.
One additional subject is welcome to join in for a few poses. Any more than that should be set up as a separate session. Pets are welcome to join us and pose for a few shots with you. Please have someone with you that can care for the pet while we shoot. Please see page 17 of the Senior Handbook for a special family portrait offer.
Have specific posing requests or expressions that you want to be sure to capture? Please share the request with Cindi prior to the shoot. Text ideas or create and share a Pintrest board with Cindi. These are YOUR portraits and we aim to please! Voice your opinion at any time. Though we love having your input, please understand that we have this under control and know just how to set these poses up. We have a ton of training and experience on this!
Please feel free to bring any props that you would like used during your session. Old chairs, benches, mirrors, luggage, a car, motorcycle, pet or whatever else you can think of. We have a few chairs, benches and couches that can be provided upon request. Just give us a few days notice.
If you wear glasses, please consider removing the lenses from the frames before the session to avoid glare. Transition lenses will not photograph well. Above all, be certain the lenses are CLEAN!
It can be tempting to go overboard with make-up but we want your natural beauty to shine through. Make-up is recommended especially lip gloss and or chapstick. Bring lip gloss and chapstick to reapply throughout the shoot, as well as a hairbrush. Even if you are a light make up wearer and have an easy going hair style, using a professional hair and make up artist is HIGHLY recommended.
Clothing changes are welcome and encouraged. Base the amount of changes on the style you are looking for within your shoot. Time is an important factor as well. We are on a limited schedule so the changes need to be quick! Have a backup plan outfit. You never know when that favorite shirt you were planning to wear might decide to grow legs and run away….be prepared for anything. Keep the weather and season in mind when making your clothing selections. A few tips to guide in the selection process…avoid stripes, solids and bright colors photograph well, patterns work well against solid backgrounds, bring shoes that reflect your personality and change them with each outfit, short skirts and dresses are a big NO NO, accessories like scarves, jewelry and hats always add to the scene, school sportswear works well too. Girls should wear a cami for quick on the spot shirt changes.
Please browse the website for location ideas. Select a location that truly reflects your personality. Meadows, fields of wildflowers, historic buildings, favorite park, athletic field, beach, lake, a downtown area, rustic, urban, the possibilities are endless. Some locations may require an additional travel fee which may be discussed when the location is selected. Additional locations may be added to your package and may also be discussed when making the appointment.
Preparation is the key to a fun session that will result in beautiful portraits you will always cherish. Take plenty of time to select your clothing, shoes and accessories. Look at many location options and select one that best suits your personality. Keep the location in consideration when selecting the clothing. Share your ideas and favorite shots that you have seen on the website with us so we have an idea of what your style and preferences are. The more time and effort you put into preparing for your session, the better your portraits will be.
In the event of weather related cancellation, photo sessions will be rescheduled as quicly as possible. The best day we can hope for is one with low humidity, a mild temperature with a bit of sunshine. The weather will NEVER be perfect. We reschedule for rain, high winds or high humidity. We try to make the decision early enough that hair and make up sessions can be rescheduled.
Sessions can range from one hour to all day, depending on the session you choose. This time can be split
between indoor and outdoor or allocated to either indoor or outdoor. For the best lighting conditions,
outdoor sessions will be scheduled in the early morning or late afternoon/evening. Time selections will be based on season which can be discussed when making appointments.
In closing….. We look forward to a successful and fun filled portrait session for your high school senior. Thank you for
choosing Jones Photography. Please share our information with friends and family. Please notify us with
any questions.
